Briley and Cooper agree to 5K runoff in Mayoral race

Nashville, TN - In a historic turn of events, Mayor David Briley and Metro Councilman John Cooper have agreed to a 5K runoff after neither secured a majority vote in this week's Mayoral election. Cooper took 35% of the vote while Briley secured a little over 25% of the vote with all precincts reporting.

Both candidates say they will spend the next six-weeks carb-loading and training for the big event on September 12. They hope the citizens of Nashville will come out to cheer them on at Vanderbilt Stadium. Tickets reportedly go on sale at 10 a.m. next Tuesday through Ticketmaster.
