Lake Austin, Texas - Elon Musk celebrated on Monday after the world's wealthiest man, Jeff Bezos, announced he would be traveling to space on July 20 on the first crewed Blue Origin rocket.
Despite Bezos beating Musk to space, the SpaceX CEO viewed it as a win.
Musk, the world's second wealthiest man, reportedly told a friend, "Wait. Bezos is leaving the planet? So, that will make me the richest man on Earth, right?"
The answer is yes. Bezos' Blue Origin rocket is scheduled to make a quick flight to more than 60 miles above Earth, making Musk the richest man on the planet for 11 minutes.
It is unclear what Musk plans to do during the time, but insiders say he is planning an elaborate 11-minute party to celebrate the financial achievement.
This is a developing story.
