Facebook to stop using crotchal recognition software

Menlo Park, CA - In addition to shutting down their facial recognition program, Facebook announced that they would also stop using their crotchal recognition software on Tuesday.

"There are many concerns about crotchal recognition technology, and regulators are still in the process of providing a clear set of guidelines for its use. We believe that limiting the use of crotchal recognition is appropriate at this juncture," said a spokesperson.

The recognition software was first introduced in 2014 as a way for Facebook to assist users in identifying friends to be tagged in photos.
