Fireworks smuggler injured after airport security performs cavity search while smoking

Nashville, TN - A man accused of smuggling fireworks through the Nashville airport is in the hospital tonight after a security agent performed a cavity search while smoking a cigarette.

Witnesses say they didn't see the incident but could clearly hear the pyrotechnics throughout the airport terminal. Several travelers even took cover before an announcement gave an all-clear.

"We could hear it from Gate 23," said one man. "It was like a grand finale. There were whistles and booms and rattle-tat-tats. It sounded like a pretty good show."

The smuggler was quickly transported to a nearby hospital. An ER nurse said he was still going off when he arrived.

Hours later, a hospital spokesperson told reporters, "I'm happy to report the patient is in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery. However, he will definitely not be sitting anytime soon."

The names of the alleged smuggler or security guard have not been released. No charges have been filed at this time.
