Lucky McKAY's shopper scores mint copy of 'Dentistry For Dummies' from free bin

John Edwards of Bellevue, wasn't expecting much when he decided to rummage through the free book bin at McKAY's Books this Sunday. That all changed when he discovered a first-edition copy of "Dentistry For Dummies" in mint condition.

"Most of the time, I don't even look in those bins," Edwards told reporters. "It's usually just old cookbooks or mildewed copies of 'The Da Vinci Code.' But for some reason, I looked today and I'm so glad I did."

The lucky shopper says he spotted the book hidden beneath a paperback of "Twilight" and couldn't believe his eyes. Edwards stated, "I've heard stories of people finding original copies of the Declaration of Independence or some priceless work of art hidden behind a $5 painting, but those weren't free like this. I feel like I've won the lottery."

When asked whether he intends to keep the book or sell it at auction, Edwards says he plans to add the volume to his private collection just in case he or someone he knows ever needs to work on their own teeth. Then, one day, he hopes to hand it down to a son or daughter.

McKAY's Books is located at 636 Old Hickory Blvd., Nashville, TN.
