Microsoft board investigated Bill Gates over affair with Office Assistant

Redmond, WA - According to new reports, the Microsoft board of directors investigated Bill Gates in 1997 over an alleged affair with an Office Assistant.

Unnamed sources say the relationship began in 1997 when the assistant joined the company's Microsoft Word division.

"Bill was going through a lonely period in '97 when the assistant showed up and took an intense interest in what he was working on. The initial attention and support attracted Gates, but the constant questions and suggestions grew annoying. Gates ended the relationship soon after," said the source.

A spokesperson has acknowledged the billionaire had a relationship with an employee over 20 years ago, and it ended amicably.

Gates contends the affair has nothing to do with him leaving the Microsoft board, his divorce, or his strong dislike for paper clips.
