Nashville extends ban on cruise ships through June 30

Nashville, TN - Cruise lovers were disappointed to learn on Friday that Nashville has extended its ban on cruise ships through June 30.

According to the release, the ban applies to all 3-day, 5-day, and 7+ domestic and international embarkations from Nashville's Cumberland Cruise Port.

"We're devastated," said one Nashville couple we interviewed. "We had an 8-day anniversary cruise to the Bahamas scheduled in May. I guess we'll go to Tootsies."

Representatives from Carnival, Norwegian, and Royal Caribbean said they are disappointed in Nashville's decision and are pushing forward with departures beginning July 1.

The good news is local cruise operations like the General Jackson Showboat are not part of the ban and are currently offering dinner cruises.
