NFL referees assure fans that face masks will not interfere with bad calls

Nashville, TN - The NFL Referee Association issued a statement on Sunday assuring fans that face masks worn by officials will not interfere with bad calls on the field.

"Our goal is simple. Keep our officials safe without impeding their ability to make questionable judgments on the field," said a spokesperson.

When further questioned, the referee spokesman admitted that face coverings could come dislodged and block a referees vision during key plays, but not enough to influence the quality of their poor decisions.

NFL coaches responded to the statement with their own press release, "We fully support the safety measures in place to protect our officials. We only ask for unlimited challenge flags for the 2020 season."

The NFL has yet to respond to the coaches' request.
