Gas stations remind Americans not to set off fireworks while pumping gas

Nashville, TN - Gas stations across the nation are reminding customers not to set off fireworks while pumping gas this holiday weekend.

A spokesperson for the U.S. gas station association issued a statement saying, "As we celebrate our nation's independence, we recognize there is a great deal of excitement around fireworks. However, we are asking all Americans to refrain from lighting pyrotechnics near the pumps."

Some customers were not happy with the request. One man told reporters, "This is unconstitutional. We're Americans, celebrating independence, and we should have every right to set off fireworks anywhere and anytime we darn well please."
