Nashville, TN - Local health experts warn that picking up hitchhikers is still unsafe until Phase 3 of the city's reopening road map.
"We feel that it would be prudent for motorists to wait until we have a better idea of how our plan is working before picking up strangers on the side of the road. That would likely come in Phase 3," said health expert Bill Orville.
Orville also encouraged drivers to insist that hitchhikers wear masks and sit in the backseat whenever possible to increase distancing.
Phase 3 will begin on June 9 if all goes as planned.
