St. Louis, MO - A Missouri pastor who berated his congregation for not buying him a Movado watch took to social media on Friday to apologize and ask for donations for a timepiece.
"I know no words will erase the hurt I have caused. Asking my church to buy me a Movado was wrong, no matter how much I deserve it. I'd like to share my heartfelt apology and this link to my GoFundMe page for anyone who wants to help me get a new watch," said Pastor Carmen Fuddruck.
A review of Fuddruck's campaign homepage found that the pastor has set his goal at $500,000, nearly 1,000 times the average cost of a Movado watch.
A spokesperson addressed the discrepancy in a statement late Friday afternoon.
"I whole-heartedly assure you that any surplus donations will go directly to the purchase of additional timepieces the pastor has also always wanted," said the representative.
