Pope Francis reminds cardinals 'blessed are the poor' before cutting their pay 10%

Vatican City - According to sources, Pope Francis took special care to remind cardinals that "blessed are the poor" before cutting their pay 10% on Wednesday.

"When you reflect on this teeny-weeny loss, please remember that blessed are the poor," said the pontiff. "You are not 10% less rich. You are 10% more blessed."

"Bull Ship," said one cardinal, speaking on conditions of anonymity. He went on to say he was disappointed because he was planning to spend the money on a weekend mission trip to Las Vegas.

Overall, the news was received graciously, except for one nun who broke her vow of silence to complain to the Holy Human Resources Department.

The Vatican did not respond to The Inquisitor's request for comment.
