Russian skater who stopped mid-performance to smoke joint, take nap cleared for finals

Beijing, China - A Russian figure skater who stopped midway through her performance on Wednesday to smoke a joint and take a nap has been cleared by the sports arbitration council to complete in the final.

According to a spokesperson, "Considering her age and the relatively minuscule size of the joint, we feel preventing her from competing would cause her irreparable harm in these circumstances."

Reactions to the ruling were mixed. Many athletes decided to light up their own stashes in support of the skater. Others felt that the decision was unfair.

"I mean, she literally slept on the ice for 20 minutes and still came in first," said a competing athlete. "Something's not right here."

Several sports organizations say they will appeal the decision.
